Banks are proposing the use of personal card readers provided to their customers for use when completing transactions over the Internet.Rather than putting pressure on the Government to introduce more security on the Internet itself Banks are proposing a solution that would cost customers a significant amount of money and would not solve the problem at all.People will find duplicating the card readers a new challenge. When the card reader has been duplicated it will be possible to send messages to the bank without the actual credit card and then we will be back to the current situation. The proposal from the banks will just add one more cost to customers and provide another way for fraud to be carried out.Rather than continuing to add to the problem the banks should be putting pressure on the people who control the Internet to put SSL certificates into SMTP servers and into each network device. This will permit fraud to be tracked back to the source.regards, Mark
